Ringkasan:

We all do wrong things; sometimes we aren’t kind to our parents, we make fun of our friends, we lie to others, etc. These are sins. It does make God sad when we sin against God. But God never stops loving us, his children and He is willing to forgive us when we come to Him and ask for his forgiveness.

Jesus wanted the Pharisees to see that God loves and welcomes those who ask Him to forgive them. So Jesus told a story, it was about the lost son. There was a man who had two sons. One day, the younger son came to his father and said, Father “ Give me my share of the family money.” The father wanted his younger son to stay, his father loved him. But his son just wants to leave. He did what the son asked.

He went far away from home and used all his money on wild living. When the money’s all spent he finds himself with no friends and nowhere to go. He went to one place and another place asking for food but nobody gave him food. It forced him to find the only job he could – feeding pigs.

Finally, he began to think. He realised all his wrong doings all these times. He said, “ The people who worked for my father have more than enough food. But here i am starving to death! I will go back to my father. He knew that he had been wrong to ask his father for the inheritance. And he knew he didn’t deserve to be forgiven. So the younger son cannot wait to come home to his father.

The father was so happy to see his son that he came to his son, he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and gave him a big hug and a kiss. The younger son cried and said “ Father, I am sorry for what I have done. I have sinned against God and against you.” But the father said, “ I forgive you son.” He loved his child and was glad to welcome his return home. He did not make the son a servant, as the son felt he deserved. Instead, he celebrated and accepted him back as a son.

The biggest sins that the younger son did was he left his father, he chose money for his own father, and he wanted to be separated from his father. The younger son is like us, who do sins and sometimes we choose to be separated from our God. But when we repent and turn back to him. He forgives us completely because of His unconditional love.

Lesson summary:
1. The father’s patience, acceptance, and forgiveness present a picture of our God. No matter what, He always
meets us with open arms.
2. God wants us to repent, turn away from our sin and ask forgiveness through Jesus. Jesus was the reason our
sins were forgiven, Jesus sacrificed himself to take away our sins. He forgives all our sins and He cleans our
heart.
3. When we realise our mistakes and ask for forgiveness, God is always ready to forgive us. Because he loves us,
and God is so merciful that he forgives us.
