Bahan Alkitab: Acts 1:1-17
Last week we learned that Jesus rose from the dead and revealed Himself to his followers as their risen Lord. Before His ascension, Jesus told his followers “All authority in heaven and on Earth has been given to Me” Matthew 28 verse 18. God has raised Jesus from the dead on the third day and giving him power to rule over all things. Jesus gave his disciples great commissions, the command to take the gospel into the whole world. He told them to baptize people into the family of God in the name of Father, Son and the Holy Spirit as a sign that they belong to God. Jesus has promised the disciple a helper. They were told to wait in Jerusalem to receive Holy Spirit. Holy spirit will be in their heart and even though it cannot be seen like Jesus during His life on Earth, Holy Spirit will keep them from being afraid and make them understand where God wanted them to go and what He wanted them to say. Holy spirit will give them everything they needed to spread the gospel. Jesus asked his disciples to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the Earth. Jesus ascended to heaven and clouds hid him from the sight of disciple. One day Jesus Christ will return in power and Glory the same way that he has ascended. The command to take the good news everywhere is what everyone who belongs to God’s covenant family must follow.
Even when we are not sure on how to spread the words of God, God will help us and give us opportunities to tell others and enables us to do it. We can ask and invite our friends or neighbour to church or to share the gospel with them.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
