Ringkasan:

Cleopas and his friend rushed back to Jerusalem to tell the good news to other disciples, it was evening and the disciples had locked their door and were gathered in a house in Jerusalem. Why did they lock the door? Why were they scared? They were scared of the Jewish people and the Romans who might catch them like they did to their Teacher.

Cleopas and his friend found them there and said: “We have seen Jesus!! We walked & talked with Him. HE IS ALIVE!!” While they were still talking, Jesus came & stood in the middle of the room.

Jesus said: “Peace be with you”. How did they react? They were all frightened. How could Jesus come in when the doors were locked?
Jesus said: why are you troubled? Look at My hands and My feet! It is I, Jesus, touch and see! For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. He showed them His hands and His feet.

While the disciples were still in disbelief for joy, HE asked: do you have anything here to eat? They gave Him a piece of broiled fish then Jesus ate it to show them that He was really alive!

Jesus taught them from God’s Word about Himself, HE was the Savior promised from God. He explained that He had suffered and died so that sinners, including us – could be forgiven. All who trust in Him and turned away from their sins, would be forgiven.

Jesus told them to go and preach the Gospel to everyone, starting from Jerusalem. God would send the Holy Spirit to give them power.
Jesus opened the disciples’ minds and gave them the understanding so that they could understand that Jesus had defeated death. The disciples began to understand that all that had happened to Jesus was part of God’s plan.
His death happened by the will of God. All our deaths are because of our sins! God had planned for His Son to die on the cross, so that we all could be saved!

Who wasn’t there that night? Thomas! When the others disciples told him that Jesus had risen and had come to visit them, did he believe them? What did he say?
Thomas said: Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, I will not believe it!

A week later, the disciples including Thomas, were in the same house and the doors were also locked. Suddenly Jesus appeared and said: Peace be with you!
He asked Thomas to reach out and touch His marks. Thomas believed right away and knelt down: My Lord and My God! His heart filled with worship and trust in Jesus.

Jesus looked at Thomas & said: Because you have seen Me, you have believed; Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed!
